LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Participants will learn what makes a floor a Sport Floor.

Participants will learn the differences between various Sport Floor Surfaces, i.e., Rubber, Urethane, Wood and PVC.

Participants will learn the International Standards governing Sport Flooring.

Participants will learn about Sport Floor substrates, such as concrete etc.

The participants will learn how selecting specific Sport Flooring can affect their LEED credits for specific projects.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Sport and Multi-Purpose Flooring is an important element in the design of schools, churches and athletic facilities.  Shock absorption, slip and slide characteristics, as well as the ability to clean and maintain a floor, are essential to the health and safety of the athlete or casual user.  Participants will learn how the various components of a Sport Flooring material can affect the user’s comfort, performance and safety.  We will explore the various types of Sport Flooring available in the market today.  Participants will be able to feel and touch various floor samples.

HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE:

All participants will receive 1 HSW Credit regarding Indoor Sport Flooring Safety.  Please note that this program is registered and endorsed by the AIA.
